Friday prayers under police guard in Fatikchhari

Friday prayers have been completed in Fatikchhari Upazila under police guard for fear of clashes between the two sides over possession of a mosque and non-recitation of Milad-Qiyam.
On Friday (June 3) at the Meher Ali Jame Mosque in Dhalkata village in Nanupur union of the upazila, half a hundred police guards led by the executive magistrate of the district administration were seen performing Friday prayers.
It is learned that for the last 7 years, there have been bloody clashes between the two sides over the occupation of this century-old mosque. The two sides also lodged counter-complaints at the police station. Later on May 23, Alhaj Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizbhandari, MP, formed a three-member committee consisting of Upazila Parishad Chairman HM Abu Tayyab, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Sabbir Rahman Sunny and Nanupur UP Chairman Shafiul Azam to resolve the dispute over the mosque. Give.
Meanwhile, after the formation of the committee, after the Friday prayers on May 26, there was a clash between the two sides over whether to recite Milad-Qiyam or not. Later, to settle the dispute, the upazila administration made arrangements to perform the prayers by appointing a khatib on a temporary basis. In view of this, the Friday prayers were performed on June 3 through the Khatib appointed by the administration.
In order to settle the dispute, a preliminary agreement was recently signed by both the parties accepting 5 decisions of the administration. According to the agreement, the current Imam and Muazzin will be in charge, both parties will withdraw the ongoing case on the same day. No party will interfere in the case, the administration will hold a meeting within the next 30 days to decide on the mosque management committee as per the rules and preliminary agreement is reached from the administration with a total of five decisions including installation of CCTV cameras. It was signed by a total of 10 people, five from the Qaumi party and five from the Sunni party.
