Mr. Md. Sohail Parvez Human High Commissioner (incharge), Bangladesh Embassy, Maldives Branch for implementation of logical 10 phase demand of about 2 crore expatriates and resolving the ongoing problems of Maldives expatriates to the interim Bangladesh government, Bangladesh Embassy, Maldives branch.
On last 12/12/2024, Thursday, the leaders of Bangladesh Immigrant Rights Council visited the honorable High Commissioner (incharge) and gave a courtesy meeting and giving script by the leaders of Bangladesh Immigrant Rights Council Maldives branch.
Dulal Al Maizbhandari, the Central Organizational Secretary of Bangladesh Immigrant Rights Council, President of Bangladesh Immigrant Rights Council, Maldives Branch Md. Alamgir Sikdar and newly elected General Secretary Immigrant Journalist Md. Al Amin.
At the beginning of the meeting with the High Commissioner, Mr. Nurul Haque Noor and President Mr. Engineer Kabir Hossain and General Secretary Mr. SM Safayet Hossain were congratulated with flowers to Mr. Sohail Parvez Honorable High Commissioner (incharge) on behalf of the High Commissioner.
At this time also present were Maldives branch's associational secretary Abdul Khalek and many others including secretary of religious harmony and humanity.
Leaders of Bangladesh Immigrant Rights Council, Maldives branch discussed with High Commissioner of Maldives about contemporary issues of expatriates and country. The discussion held an important discussion about the logical 10 phase demand of 2 crore expatriates including assurance of voting rights and representation of expatriates in the National Parliament elections.
About 2 crore expatriates' logical 10 phase demands are also discussed. The demands are all.
1/ Quick implementation of irregular, undocumented, distressed and helpless immigrant Bangladeshi worker's dead body transportation policy-2022
2/ Want to vote self-body/online in ballot box not in postal ballot in Bangladeshi embassy and election booths and implement representation of expatriates in national parliament.
3/ Expatriate harassment stopped at airport, proper respect and arrangement of Bangladesh air tickets with other syndicate free of private aircraft.
4/ Implementation of dual citizenship law enforcement and pension facilities for expatriates.
5/ Implementation of broker and harassment free passport and embassy services with passport correction opportunity in easy process.
6/ Expatriate Protection Law enforcement and implementation and constructing specialized hospitals on priority basis for well treatment of expatriates and family members.
7/ Special allocated (5%) for expatriates in national budget.
8/ Government cooperation in legalization of expatriates without documents abroad and arrangements to get visas of all European Union from Dhaka.
9/ Arrangements for friendly Bangladeshi Embassy, High Commission and Labour Welfare Wing in the countries where Bangladeshi workers are in.
10/immigration expenditure restricted to 1 lakh taka, implementing interest-free adequate loan facility through G2G.
As well as important discussions are held for proper solution to the following issues of Bangladeshi immigrant workers in Maldives.
1/ Remittance earned from Maldives. Provide direct dispatch to Bangladesh in banking channels in Maldives and arrange branches of Bangladeshi Bank in Maldives.
2/ Giving opportunity to give Maldives money instead of dollar to correct and renew passport.
3/ Business organizations of Bangladeshi businessmen in Maldives extending the hands of the embassy and government cooperation of the opportunity to manage business organizations in their own name.
4/ Embassy and government's forceful efforts to reopen the closed labor market in Maldives.
5/ Stop harassment of legal immigrant Bangladeshi workers by immigration police in Maldives.
6/ Numerous expatriate workers working in Maldives are not getting salary and adequate benefits according to the contract. Embassy taking effective steps on this issue.
Hon'ble High Commissioner assured expatriates to resolve logical demands in a quick time through discussion with government's higher authorities.
