The principal of Nunuj Madrasa of Badalgachi is absconding after the corruption allegations were proved in the investigation

Md Shahidul Islam, Principal of Nunuz Kalimiya Alim Madrasa of historic Paharpur UP of Badalgachi Upazila of Naogaon District, has been accused of financial irregularities, arbitrariness, abuse of power and other financial irregularities.

The teachers-students, parents and locals of the institution raised these allegations and demanded his removal. They have written complaints to the District Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission, District Education Officer, Upazila Secondary Education Officer and Upazila Executive Officer.

In view of this complaint, on October 27th Assistant Commissioner, Education and Welfare Branch, Deputy Commissioner formed a committee and assigned the responsibility of investigation to the upazila secondary education officer, and on October 31st, in the presence of principal Md. Shahidul Islam, after the investigation, the upazila secondary education officer found the principal guiltyOn November 24, he recommended to the Deputy Commissioner to take necessary legal measures.Since then, the principal Shahidul Islam has been absconding, said local residents and the teachers and students of the madrasa.

According to the report of the investigation committee, from last year 2016 to 2022, the principal embezzled the entire amount of tuition fees, embezzled money from the teachers by collecting subscriptions under different names, deducted the salary of the teacher without giving the due leave and the principal was regularly present in the madrasa. From the day thatHe signed his absent days on the day he came to the madrasa.In addition, the principal appointed the vice-principal by accepting a huge amount of bribe and all the activities related to the appointment of teachers were secretly done alone, even though there was a provision that decisions should be made in the meeting in the presence of the members of the governing body of the madrasa.

Besides, he kept the resolution book blank and later used it for nefarious purposes as he wished, he had to pay a hefty bribe to take the maternity leave of the teachers or to get signatures for the bank loan of the teachersIt is known that the principal has embezzled form filling money, money of disabled students and scholarship money of students' talent pool. He has given various threats to those complaining about corruption and money embezzlement. 

Upazila Secondary Education Officer along with Naogaon District Commissioner said in a written statement as a recommendation for punishment.

The complaint brought against Mr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Principal of Nunuj Kalimiya Alim Madrasa under Badalgachi Upazila of Naogaon district and the matter of neglect and absence of the principal towards the national days have been proved. During the on-site investigation, it can be seen that through the statements of all the teachers and employees, students and dignitaries of the Madrasa, the fact of embezzlement, fraud, recruitment of teachers and employees through money and government money embezzlement of tuition fees has been proven against the principalAccording to the rules, departmental and legal action can be taken against the principal of Kalimiya Alim Madrasa, Md. Shahidul Islam.

In this regard, some of the teachers of the madrasa said, we are fed up with the arbitrary behavior of this principal, he has always been busy filling his belly without trying to improve the madrasa.

Due to him, the atmosphere of the madrasa has been ruined. He is running away with false cases against the teachers and local residents in anger as he is found guilty in the investigationWe want the removal of the corrupt principal.

A student said, the principal has threatened me as I have complained about various misdeeds of the principal, he has applied pressure in various ways to withdraw the complaint, I have his call records.

In this regard, on December 18, at 11 am, Badalgachi Upazila Secondary Education Officer and investigation officer of the said complaint Md. Shafiul Alam said, I was given the responsibility of investigating the matter from the Naogaon district administration, I went to the ground and visited the madrasa principal, teachers, students, guardians and local residents throughout the day. After talking to the individuals, I submitted the investigation report.As their comments and written complaints are initially found to be true, I have recommended to the District Commissioner to take necessary legal action. Now we hope that the higher authorities will take legal action as per Madrasa MPO policy
