BRAC Field Officer Shamima of Paharpur of Badalgachi accused of embezzling money

A complaint of embezzlement of huge amount of money was received by a field officer of private NGO BRAC office of historical Paharpur UP of Badalgachi upazila of Naogaon district.

The accused is Shamima Akhtar (35), wife of Md Ishahak Ali Dulal of Barabihan Ali village of Baghmara upazila of Rajshahi district. He is serving as Field Officer of Paharpur BRAC Office.

The victim, Ezanur Rahman, son of Shukumuddin of Dwarishan village, grocer of historic Paharpur market of Badalgachi Upazila, said, "My Dharma Bhai developed a relationship with Shamima, a field worker of BRAC office. Because of this, my family's relationship with her became very close. Due to this, she became close to my father. He took a total of 7 lakh 51 thousand including 5 lakh taka in cash and 2 lakh 51 thousand taka for my development, cash and grocery store balance.

After repeated summons, he started making various excuses for not paying the money. At one point, he gave a Janata Bank check and when he went to withdraw the money, the bank authorities returned the check with a dishonor certificate on 17th July 2023.

In this regard, when the lawyer sent a notice to the said Shamima, she did not give any reply.

In search of embezzlement of his money, Shamima's NGO area went to the historical Paharpur Bazar and it was found that he did this kind of fraud with many people except Ejanur.

Complaints have been received from many businessmen including Sajib, Rahadul, Mamun of Paharpur Bazar that he has embezzled a lot of money in various matters including fraud of keeping DPS money, non-payment of balance in shops.

When the accused Shamima Akhtar was asked over the phone, she denied the allegation and said that she will not get any money from me.

  In this regard, the manager of Paharpur BRAC office branch said, "I have heard about Ejanur's money transaction with field officer Shamima. It is their personal debt." We have nothing to do about it. But I don't know about the debt owed to others.
