Two persons including SI of Thakurgaon police were sentenced to life imprisonment

Sub-Inspector (SI) Helal of Thakurgaon, arrested in the sensational drug case, sentenced to life imprisonment for two persons. On Wednesday (June 21) afternoon, Thakurgaon District Sessions Judge Mamunur Rashid gave the verdict. Sub-Inspector (SI) Helal and his associate Sweeper Manik were sentenced to life imprisonment in the case. The court imposed imprisonment and a fine of Tk 12 lakh.

Sub Inspector of Police Helal's house is in Naogaon district. He was working as Sub-Inspector (SI) of Pirganj Police Station, Thakurgaon. And sweeper Manik is the son of Badal Das of Mandaladam village of Ruhia police station in Thakurgaon district.

According to the source of the case, on June 19, 2019, members of the detective branch (DB) of the district police arrested drug dealer Akimul and his wife from Pirdangi cemetery of Pirganj upazila. The arrested accused said that SI Helal of Pirganj police station used to supply them Yaba, Fensidil and Gaza. DB members started monitoring Helal from that day. Later on June 23, a team of Thakurgaon DB police raided Helal's official quarters of Pirganj police station and arrested Helal and his associate Sweeper Manik along with eight thousand pieces of Yaba, Fensidil and two kg of gauze.

State lawyer Shekhar Kumar Roy expressed his satisfaction with the verdict of the case.
