Allegations of Illegal House Construction in Pirganj Municipality

 Pirganj, Thakurgaon:

An individual named Robiul Islam has been accused of illegally constructing a house right on a neighbor's boundary line, allegedly in violation of established rules and regulations of the Pirganj Municipality. The construction began without an approved house plan or any provision for drainage. When a neighbor, Abdur Rashid, tried to stop the work, he was allegedly threatened with his life. The incident took place on Saturday morning in the Munshipara area of the municipal town, and Abdur Rashid has filed a written complaint with the police station.

According to the complaint, Robiul Islam purchased land in the Munshipara area and started building a semi-pucca house. However, the construction is happening directly along the boundary of his neighbor Abdur Rashid’s property, without any proper drainage system for rainwater runoff. Furthermore, the construction does not have an approved plan from the municipality.

On August 1, around 10 AM, when Abdur Rashid protested the construction, Robiul Islam allegedly became aggressive, verbally abused him, and threatened to kill him.

The complainant, Abdur Rashid, stated, "I am a peace-loving person and do not get involved in political disputes. But I protested because this illegal construction will damage my homestead. Now I feel insecure."

When asked about the allegations, Robiul Islam said, "I have my own calculations with the original landowner."

The Municipality's Engineer, Shahjahan Ali, said, "Anyone building a house in the municipality must follow all rules and regulations. Action will be taken against anyone who constructs a house without proper approval."

Pirganj Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam confirmed that a written complaint has been received and said, "Action will be taken after an investigation."
