A school-going teenager died after being hit by a transport vehicle in Fatikchhari

A sixth-grade student named Mohammad Maruf (11) died tragically after being hit by a transport truck in Fatikchhari.

The road accident took place at the last corner of Eidgah Road on the south side of Upazila Sadar Bibirhat around 4:30 pm on Tuesday (February 1).

Witnesses said Maruf was playing on the field and riding a bicycle. At that moment, the truck coming from the opposite direction crushed him in such a way that his head became completely numb. He died on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Maruf, 11, son of Mohammad Selim of Karam Ali Saudagar Bari in Ward 7 of Fatikchhari Municipality. She is a 6th class student of Dhurung Khulshi Lions High School.

Local councilor Md. Belal Uddin confirmed the incident and said, “My cousin about the deceased Maruf. He is a very calm and polite boy. His death has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.

Meanwhile, the locals have become angry over the incident. They said, this road is a small bypass, how can such a big transport car go through this road!

Fatikchhari police reached the spot after receiving the news. The driver of the transport vehicle is absconding.
