MP Candidate Pledges to Sell Beef at 1 Taka Per KG!

Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Faridpur District Correspondent:

Following the national controversy caused by his announcement to sell Hilsa fish for 10 Taka, independent Member of Parliament (MP) candidate for the Faridpur-4 constituency, Mufti Raihan Jamil, has now announced that he will sell beef for only 1 Taka per kilogram. However, only those who have been issued a token will be able to purchase the beef at this subsidized price.

The beef will be sold to the poor and distressed people in Bhanga, Faridpur, on Thursday (October 30) at 3 p.m.

When asked about the 1 Taka beef sale, Raihan Jamil told reporters, "I will distribute beef for 1 Taka in Bhanga, Faridpur, next Thursday (October 30). A list of beneficiaries has been prepared, and tokens have been issued to them. The distribution location will be kept confidential to avoid disorder. Initially, 100 kg of beef will be distributed among 100 helpless and poor families."

He added, "I will not allow the kind of disorder that happened before. I will work in coordination with the administration and with their cooperation. Obstacles may come in the way of good deeds, but they cannot be stopped. Such activities will continue in the future, Insha'Allah."

It is notable that in September, Mufti Raihan Jamil had announced the distribution of Hilsa fish for only 10 Taka in Sadarpur, Faridpur. However, due to the presence of more people than fish, there was huge chaos among the crowd who had come for the cheap fish. Raihan Jamil eventually had to quickly leave the spot, abandoning the Hilsa, due to the pressure from the crowd. This news was widely covered by various media outlets and sparked discussion and criticism across the country.
