Drug Lord Arman, Accused in 25 Cases, Arrested in Pirganj

Arman Ali (38), known as a drug lord and accused in 25 drug-related cases, was arrested by Pirganj Thana police in Thakurgaon. He was apprehended from his home in the College Bazar area of the municipality on Tuesday evening. Arman is the son of the late Sheikh Ahmmed Ali, from the Raghunathpur neighborhood of the municipality.
Officer-in-Charge of Pirganj Thana, Tajul Islam, said that Arman Ali has been running a drug business in Pirganj and surrounding upazilas for a long time. Police have arrested him multiple times and sent him to jail, but he would restart his drug trade after being released on bail. A powerful drug syndicate has grown in the area under his control. He is facing charges in 25 drug cases, in addition to a case involving local weapons. He was also a fugitive, wanted in several cases and sentenced to two years in one of them. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested him at his home before the evening. He is scheduled to be brought before the court on Wednesday.
