Area Development Will Never Happen with Broken-Backed Leaders - Faruk, Leader of Gono Odhikar Parishad

 Pirganj (Thakurgaon) Correspondent:

Faruk Hasan, Vice-President and Spokesperson of the Central Committee of Gono Odhikar Parishad, has stated that area development will never happen with "broken-backed" leaders. We do not have leaders in Parliament who can speak with courage. That is why we are far behind in terms of development. Our leaders are spineless when it comes to asserting rights and speaking up.

He made these remarks at a press conference organized by the Pirganj Upazila unit of Gono Odhikar Parishad at the Pirganj Press Club hall in Thakurgaon on Thursday afternoon.

He said, "51 percent of the budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year has been allocated to Chattogram. The remaining 49 percent has been allocated for the entire country. By the time it's all distributed, there will be nothing left in Thakurgaon's share. We, the people of this region, are neglected and deprived of development. Will we remain neglected until the Day of Judgment? We need to understand why our development does not happen. Therefore, you must be more conscious when electing leaders."

He further added, "MPs, ministers, and leaders go to Singapore and Canada for treatment even for a slight cold or cough. They do not think about us. They change as soon as they gain power. Consequently, there is no proper medical treatment in upazila health complexes. Dogs and cats run around on patients' beds."

At the event, District Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary and prospective candidate for Thakurgaon-3 constituency, Professor Abdus Sobhan, Senior Vice President Abdul Gaffar, Asha Moni, Pirganj Upazila Gono Odhikar Parishad President Rezaul Karim, Vice President Rafiqul Islam, and others spoke, with Pirganj Municipal Gono Odhikar Parishad President Alamgir Kabir Jewel moderating.

After the press conference, he held a street meeting at Bat-tola in Paschim Chourasta of the municipal town and campaigned for his party's prospective candidate for Thakurgaon-3 constituency, Professor Abdus Sobhan.
