Human chain and protest against killing of journalist Nadeem in Bhanga

Journalists of Bhanga Press Club organized a human chain and protest march in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur to protest against the brutal killing of Bakshiganj upazila representative of 71TV and Jamalpur district representative of BanglaNews24.com Golam Rabbani Nadeem for publishing news and to bring the culprits under the law and bring them under the law.

On Saturday (June 17) at 9 am in front of the Bhanga police station, the journalists held a protest procession and later on the police station road in Bhanga Bazar.

Alhaj Saifullah Shamim, General Secretary of Banga Press Club, President of Banga Upazila Branch of Bangladesh Press Club and Vice President of Banga Press Club Mamunur Rashid, Organizing Secretary MM Asaduzzaman Munshi were present in the human chain.

Also present, the organizing secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Hero Freedom Fighters Command, Hafez Maulana Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Md. Sanwar Hossain, Md. Alam Munshi, Imran Munshi, Mahmudul Haque Bahar, Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Md. Zakaria Khan, Md. Saidur Rahman, Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Hossain, Md. Jamal Uddin, Md. Ronnie Mia, Md. Tariqul Islam, Md. Shaheen Islam, Humayun Kabir, Md. Sagar Munshi, Md. Azizul Hakim and other members of the press club.

The speakers in the human chain said that they will continue the movement until the trial of journalist Nadeem's murder is brought to justice. All the journalists erupted in protest demanding quick arrest of the killers and execution of the killers. Attracting the attention of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, the speakers strongly demanded exemplary punishment of the guilty.

The protest was led by General Secretary of Banga Press Club Alhaj Saifullah Shamim and President of Banga Upazila Branch of Bangladesh Press Club and Vice President of Banga Press Club Mamunur Rashid.


It is to be noted that when journalist Nadeem, the victim of murder, reached Pathatiya in Bakshiganj on his way home last Wednesday (June 14), 10-12 armed miscreants beat up Nadeem and seriously injured him and ran away. Later the locals rescued him and took him to the local upazila health complex. When the condition worsened, he was transferred to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment. When his condition was critical there too, he was sent to Mymensingh Medical College (MMEC) Hospital on Thursday morning. He died there around 3:30 pm while undergoing treatment.

The deceased Nadeem is the son of Abdul Karim of Nilakhia Gomerchar village of Bakshiganj upazila. The relatives of journalist Nadeem claimed that the murder happened because of news about the misdeeds of Sadhurpara Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu of Bakshiganj.
