A man was hacked to death over a trivial incident in Manda Upazila of Naogaon district. Three others were injured in the attack. The incident took place at Murgipatti area of Deluabari Bazar at around 8:30 pm on Friday night. Four people have been arrested in the incident.
The name of the deceased is Atiqur Rahman (35). He is the son of Mozahar Ali Mandal of Hajigobindpur Balkapara village of Kusumba Union.
Kusumba Union ward Awami League president Ainul Haquesah (45), Zillur Rahman (35) and Anwar Hossain (28) of the same village were injured in the attack. Among them, Ainul Haque has been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Mehdi Hasan Pilot (30), his father Abdul Majeed (60), Raihan (30) and Parul Bibi (50) have been arrested in this incident.
Locals said that there was a collision between two motorcycles in front of Deluabari Bazar disabled school last Thursday afternoon. A terrorist group of Deluabari market beat up the unidentified motorcycle driver based on the said incident.
When Rubel Hossain of Hajigobindpur Balkapara village stopped him, he was also beaten by the members of the terrorist forces.
Based on this incident, 20-25 terrorist youths, under the leadership of Sharif Uddin of Kirtali village and pilot of Deluabari Bazar, got together and ambushed Rubel Hossain's elder brother Atiqur Rahman with Ramada, Chinese ax and various weapons at Murgipatti area of Deluabari Bazar.
At that time, the terrorists injured Atiqur Rahman with a ramada and a Chinese ax. Ward Awami League president Ainul Haque, Zillur Rahman of Balakapara village and Anwar Hossain were hacked to save him. Later, when the injured were rescued and taken to Manda Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Atiqur Rahman dead.
Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Rahman said that four people were immediately detained in the case of Atiqur Rahman's death. Legal action will be taken later.
