A discussion and prayer ceremony was held on the occasion of Bangabandhu's 47th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day at the initiative of Maldives Branch Awami League.

Bangabandhu and his family were killed on August 15, 1975 as part of a domestic-foreign conspiracy to make Bangladesh a failed state.

 The speakers said these things at the discussion and prayer mahfil program organized by Maldives branch Awami League on the martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day yesterday, August 26, Friday at nine o'clock local time in the hall of C Building in Malé, the capital of Maldives.

 This painful day of the Bengali nation was celebrated by Maldives branch Awami League like every year.

  The ceremony was presided over by Alhaj Dulal Madbar, Honorable President of Maldives Branch Awami League, distinguished businessman and social worker.

And under the direction of the joint general secretary of the party Nur Alam Rintu, Honorable High Commissioner Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad was present as the chief guest at the event. Guests and Awami leaders.

Then at the mourning meeting, the program started with the recitation of the Quran and a minute's silence was observed and Fateha was recited in memory of all the martyrs who died on August 15, 1975 including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

  The chief guest SM Abul Kalam Azad sir said that by killing Bangabandhu, the killers had planned to bind the newly independent Bangladesh in the chains of subjugation. But their dreams will never come true,

President Alhaj Dulal Madbar said that the remaining murderers involved in Bangabandhu's murder were quickly brought back to the country and hanged and called upon the Bangladesh government through the embassy to rid the country of the disgrace.
