The mystery behind the suicide of university students and our responsibility

|||||

According to a survey conducted by the Aachol Foundation, about 101 students of different universities in Bangladesh have committed suicide which has increased at an alarming rate as compared to previous years.

Where the students of a country's most meritorious university will enlighten the future of Bangladesh in the light of their knowledge, today they are either blindly lost or committing suicide or are at risk of suicide which is really a big threat or concern for future Bangladesh. Let's first find out exactly why students are committing suicide or are at risk of suicide.

Firstly, although the educational institutions are running at a normal pace now, the effects of the closure of the educational institutions for a long time have not been completely overcome, such as session jam, inability to concentrate as before, poor test results, etc. There are also fears of job losses, declining access to government jobs, old age, the burden of family responsibilities, economic instability, long-running job deer, frustrated, failing to meet the expectations of loved ones. Fear of falling out, strained relationships, sudden departure of a loved one from almost all of life, loneliness, fear of falling far behind peers, frustration or anger over job anarchy or corruption, job as expected by oneself or loved ones Or the fear of not being able to fulfill or failing dreams and above all the uncertainty about the future life creates a kind of mental problem in them.

There is a large section of suicidal students who for a long time could not trust or rely on these difficulties or problems, but one by one they accumulated in their conscious or subconscious mind which at some point went beyond their capacity. As a result, he lost control of his emotions. Then all the joys and sorrows of his life turn into failure and despair and all the way to continue his life seems to be closed to him. As a result, the life that was once laughter-joy, there were many dreams-hope-love, today that precious life seems unbearable to him and he loses hope of survival. And so he sees suicide as the only easy way out of this miserable life. In addition to mental health professionals, friends, family, society and educational institutions can play a big role in preventing this suicide.

Since the uncertainty of getting a job can be a big reason behind suicide, the education system has to be adapted to the needs of the job market so that the students can acquire the required qualifications for the job in their education.

It is also very important for the students to be aware of the importance of the problems with the empathy and flexibility of the teachers in any kind of academic or personal problem which will give them confidence and help them to get out of the problem. On the other hand, hiring skilled psychologists in the educational institutions who will help the students to see the unseen paths by listening to the words of the deep-seated difficulties and changing their negative and irrational thoughts. At the same time, by increasing the psychosocial skills required to adapt to the hostile environment, it can bring them back from the path of suicide. In this case, the activities of the university's counseling center and the recruitment of qualified student-advisors from among the teachers can play a role in preventing suicide.

But before reaching out to psychologists, people close to the suicidal person, especially his family members, friends or close relatives, have to play the first role so that they can do the initial help. For example, trying to be as patient as possible, listening to them and trying to solve them, as a close person, should help them to point out the positive aspects of the problem without repeatedly teasing or joking about the negative or weak points of such problem people. To encourage Because what is fun for you or what is fun for others can be harmful. Also make everyone aware of the symptoms of suicidal tendencies so that they can easily identify the person prone to suicide and take quick action in this regard. On the other hand, as a loved one, you have the confidence to be by his side no matter what happens in life. In conclusion, it is the responsibility of each and every one of us as a society to stand by our side to solve other people's problems as much as possible, because your little help can be a great help to others which can bring their messy life back to normal. Suicide is not a solution, a suicide can destroy not just one person but an entire family. Let's be aware of ourselves and make others aware too. Good luck to our dear students.
