Two Kasti stone idols worth Tk 1 crore 8 lakh were recovered in Naogaon

Two idols of Lord Krishna have been recovered from the house of two members of the idol smuggling ring in Manda of Naogaon district. The fugitives are Ibrahim Hossain and Abdul Quader of Kirtali village in Kusumba union of Manda upazila.
Naogaon BGB-17 captain Lt. led the operation. Colonel Mohammad Asaduzzaman and Mandar Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zakir Munshi. Manda police sub-inspector Fazle Elahi was present with them at the time. According to the BGB, the two idols weighed 18 kg.
According to a press release issued by the BGB-18 (Naogaon) Battalion, the BGB may have learned in secret that two Kastipathar idols were kept at the house of Ibrahim Hossain and Abdul Quader for smuggling purposes. On the basis of such information, two idols weighing 110 kg were recovered from the kitchen of Ibrahim Hossain and 56 kg from the house of Quader on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the press release, the members of the trafficking ring fled after sensing the presence of law enforcement agencies during the operation. The estimated value of the two recovered idols is one crore and six lakh rupees.
Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Rahman said the BGB had not yet filed a case with the police station over the incident.
