It is known from history that Paharpur Buddhist Monastery and Museum is one of the largest archeological sites in Asia. It was one of the universities of that generation. Between 61 AD and 621 AD, Paharpur was a famous learning center. Charyapada, a thousand year old monument of Bengali language, was once created at Paharpur University. The famous Pandit Shilbhadra, Atish Dipankar was once the Acharya of the University. Nalanda University was an important institution of higher learning in India from 800-1200 AD. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nevertheless, in September 2014, the Government of India established Nalanda University at Nalanda Mahavihara.

During the government of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1973, UNICEF was requested to include the Paharpur Buddhist Monastery in the World Heritage List by preparing the documents. On the basis of which it was declared as a World Heritage Site in 1985

 Every day tourists from home and abroad come to visit the historical Paharpur. History To keep this memory alive in the soil of Paharpur, we, the people of Badalgachi, call for the establishment of a university in the vicinity of the historic Paharpur Sampur Maha Vihara. The university hall will be very convenient for the students. Because Joypurhat district and railway station is 10 km to the north from the historical Paharpur, Jamalganj station is 5 km to the east. Naogaon district is the regional highway adjacent to Paharpur.

Therefore, it is expected that the country and the nation will benefit if a university is established here considering all aspects.

The demand of the conscious community in this regard is that since Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the university should be set up 20/25 km away from Naogaon so that there is no pressure on the city.

Moreover, in 2016, the then Deputy Commissioner of Naogaon made a strong demand to the Hon'ble Prime Minister to set up a university here.
