Fugitive convict arrested in Naogaon

Police have arrested a convicted fugitive in Manda of Naogaon district. He was arrested in a raid in Savar area of Dhaka on Tuesday evening using technology. He was a long-time fugitive with a three-year sentence on his head.
The arrested person is identified as Jahidul Islam (42). He is a resident of Babuipara village in Kusumba union. The court convicted him in multiple cases of fraud.
Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Rahman said the victims had filed a fraud case against the arrested Jahidul Islam in a Naogaon court on charges of embezzling money in various ways. In these cases, the court sentenced him to three years. He was a fugitive even before the verdict of the case.
The OC further said that Manda Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Zahidul Islam and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abdul Jabbar were arrested from Savar area of Dhaka on Tuesday evening with the help of information technology.
He was sent to Naogaon Jail on Wednesday, March 9.
