Four people including 12 cows and 1 Khasi were arrested in Badalgachhi of Naogaon

Police have arrested four cattle thieves including 12 domestic cows and one Khasi in Badalgachhi of Naogaon district.

Police recovered 12 cows and a Khasi from Tentulia (Jhupritala) of Kola Union in Badalgachhi Upazila at 10:30 am on Saturday.

Four cattle thieves have been arrested in the incident.

The arrested persons are Zakir Hossain (55), son of late Dudu Miah of Tentulia village of Badalgachhi upazila, Abdus Sabur 'Sabuj' (24) son of Zakir Hossain, Ruhul Amin (45) son of Alimuddin of Kola village and Tanjid son of Idris Ali of Biharpur village of Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat district. Golam Mostafa of Haludbihar village in Badalgachhi upazila, the owner of the rescued cow, said, “I got the news on my son Mamunur Rashid's mobile phone at 9:30 am and went to Jhupritala in Tentulia village to see the stolen cow a week ago.

After unloading the cow from the vat, I informed the Badalgachhi police station and the police rescued 11 more cows from the house of Zakir Hossain and his wife.

Jewel Hossain, son of Ashraf Hossain of Halhalia village in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat district, said, “Thieves broke into my house last Saturday night and stole one of my cows. I did a lot of searching and did not find any cow and lodged a complaint with Akkelpur police station.

Today I got the news through the police and came to Badalgachhi police station and identified my cow.

The wife of Muminul Islam of Hastabsantapur village in the same upazila said, "Last Monday morning, a group of thieves stole a cow worth around Tk 230,000 by cutting a brick wall."

Today I feel lucky to have found the cow through the police. "My husband is very sick," she said. I am very happy to get the cow.

Badalgachhi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said, "We rushed to the spot after getting information from Golam Mostafa of Haludbihar village."

The cows were recovered from Zakir Hossain's house and his fianc রুe Ruhul Amin's house.

He further said that on the basis of secret information, the police conducted a raid and rescued 12 and 1 local Khasi and arrested the four. It is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in this ring.
