The investigation committee did not find the truth of the use of bamboo in the construction of wash block in Pirganj
Limon Sarkar (Thakurgaon) Correspondent:
The investigation committee did not find any information about the use of bamboo clamps instead of rods in the construction of wash block at Jabarhat Degree College in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon. On Thursday afternoon, a three-member investigation committee headed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rezaul Karim removed the construction work and investigated the land. In the presence of Upazila Chairman Alhaj Akhtarul Islam, Jabarhat College Principal Karimul Islam, Assistant Professor Tayyab Ali and other local dignitaries, they smashed the slabs (lids) made for the wash block and found that iron rods were used there. They did not find any use of bamboo clamps. The other members of the investigation committee are Upazila Engineer Shamim Akhter and Upazila Project Officer Tariful Islam.
Rezaul Karim, chief executive officer of the investigation committee, said they went to the investigation based on allegations made by the college authorities and news published in various media. When the slab was broken, it was seen that iron rod had been used. They did not find any slabs made of bamboo.
Upazila Engineer Shamim Akhter said there was no compromise with the quality of work of his office. The works are being implemented according to the rules. They did not find any slab in the wash block of Jabarhat College.
Tayyab Ali, an assistant professor at the college, said they saw and took pictures of a slab made of bamboo, which was not there at the time of the investigation. It has been removed. The incident was investigated 3 days later. The slab could have been found in the immediate investigation.
Contractor Farooq Hossain said that the slab measuring one and a half feet by one foot will not need 5 kg of rod. How much does it cost? It's a shame for him as a first class contractor. This may be done to endanger him with malicious intent. He requested the journalists to investigate the matter and publish the correct news.
Akhtarul Islam, chairman of the upazila, said the slab made of basher bata was not found there. May have been removed. However, other works in the wash block have been verified. That's fine.
It is to be noted that Basher's claw was found in a slab (lid) prepared for the wash block under construction at Jabarhat Degree College at a cost of Tk 6 lakh under the Local Government Engineering Department. The administration sat motionless.
