In Naogaon, four families lived in a house with a brick wall for seven months, the remedy did not match

Nuruzzaman Liton District Representative Naogaon

Four families have been kept in solitary confinement for seven months due to a dispute over property ownership in Raninagar in Naogaon district.

Although three months have elapsed since the incident was reported, the victim's family members have said that the remedy did not match.

The incident took place in Barakhol village of Mirat union in Raninagar upazila.

Family members, including Chamchur Dewan, son of Akbar Dewan of Barakhol village, a member of the victim's family, said there was a dispute with Barakhol High School over the ownership of the Chamchur Dewan family's land. Matabbar Abdul Karim, Reazul Islam, Belal and Zakir Hossain, the headmaster of the village, along with their men, went to the family of Chamchur Dewan seven months ago after the village matabbar and headmaster Zakir Hossain offered to demolish the house and settle down on the adjoining khas land. Member Momena Bibi broke into the shop house.

The Matabbars then housed four families, including Chamsur Dewan, Bhai Ujjal Dewan, neighbor Ramzan Dewan and Momena Bibi. We have filed a case in the court regarding the ownership of the place.

Chamchur Dewan further said that Matabbar Riaz Dewan himself came and informed about the matter of keeping the people of four families including Chamchur Dewan in one room.

No one in the community informed them that they would not be able to talk to the four family members, travel in the van of Chamchur Dewan, buy anything from the shop and pray in the mosque. They also announced that if anyone in the village did not follow the instructions, he would be fined one thousand rupees.

After such instructions, no one from the village talks to them and no one sells goods or medicines from the shop and no one travels in a van. Besides, the roads of four families including Chamchur Dewan have been blocked with a brick wall demanding the place of the school. This is to get out of the house to the top of the wall. As a result, the four families with 21 members are in dire straits.

Matabbar Abdul Karim, head of the village, Riaz Uddin and Zakir Hossain, headmaster of the school, denied the allegation of keeping them in solitary confinement. That is why no one in the village talks to them. Besides, they have blocked their own roads. We didn't stop.

Shahin Hossain, Iqbal Hossain and Khairul Islam Pramanik of the village said that there was a dispute with the school over the place. Even after sitting a few times, there was no solution, so they were kept in solitary confinement by the society under the direction of the Matabbars. That's why we don't talk.

After a written complaint was lodged with the Naogaon Deputy Commissioner seeking proper redressal of the incident, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Raninagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer to personally inform him on 28 October. The executive officer then visited the spot but did not find any proper remedy in the last three months, the victims said.

In this regard, Raninagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sushant Kumar Mahato said, "I have visited the spot on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner and called both the parties to my office." Hopefully they will come and solve it in a short time.
