Two killed, two injured in road accident in Naogaon

Two passengers of a battery-powered van have died after being hit by a tractor in Patnitala of Naogaon district. Two more people were injured in the incident.
The tragic accident took place in Nakucha area of Sapahar-Najipur road around 8:30 am on Friday, January 21.
The deceased were identified as Bulbuli Akhter, 42, wife of Jewel Hossain of Bara Mahrandi village under Patnitala upazila and Faruk Hossain, 60, son of late Moyez Uddin of the same village.
According to local sources, four passengers in a battery-powered charger van were coming from Bakrail to Madhail Bazar in the upazila at 8:30 am on Friday. When he reached Nakucha area, the shape of the van broke and fell in the middle of the road.
At that time a speeding tractor coming from the opposite direction crushed the van.
Bulbuli Akhter died on the spot. Seriously injured Faruk Hossain and three others were rescued and taken to Patnitala Upazila Health Complex. Faruk Hossain died at around 10 am while undergoing treatment there. The sand-carrying tractor overturned after the incident.
Later, the fire service unit recovered the body of the deceased at Patnitala and handed it over to the police. The tractor driver fled after the incident.
Patnitala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsul Alam confirmed the death in the accident and said the bodies of the two were recovered and taken to the police station. It is believed that the accident took place as the shape of the van was broken. The driver of the tractor fled after the incident. The body will be handed over to the family at the end of the legal process.
