Mrinal President Jiku Secretary Eidgaon Upazila Puja Celebration Parishad

The bi-annual conference of the newly formed Eidgaon Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad in Cox's Bazar has been held in a festive atmosphere for the first time. In the end, Mrinal and Jiku won by a huge margin among the three panels in the council session. Mrinal Acharya got 26 votes for the post of president. Jiku Das (Subrata) won the post of General Secretary by getting equal votes from the same panel. The election was held on Friday, September 18 from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Brahma Mandir on the outskirts of Laldighi, the office of the District Puja Celebration Parishad. The total number of councilors was 47. Ratan Das, vice-president of the district puja celebration council, was the head of the election management committee held under the supervision of the district puja celebration council. The council session was attended by members of the Election Management Committee, General Secretary of District Puja Udjapan Parishad and Trustee of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Bablu Sharma, District Branch Vice-President and former Commissioner Uday Shankar Pal Mithu, District Organizing Secretary Swarupam Pal Panju, President of Cox's Bazar Municipal Puja Udjapan Parishad. Other leaders of the district puja celebration council including Bentu Das. Bikash- Johnny Panel got 18 votes for the post of president and Johnny Pal for the post of general secretary from the Johnny panel. On the other hand, from Chandi and Sumon panel, Chandi Acharya got 4 votes for the post of president and Sumon Chowdhury got 4 votes for the post of general secretary. A total of 40 people including 10 from Eidgaon, Islamabad, Jalalabad and Pokkhali Unions under Eidgaon Upazila and a total of 48 people including 8 people from the convening committee of Eidgaon Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad were in the election. The electorate said a full committee of 51-member upazila would be formed soon. At night, well-wishers, supporters and voters greeted the elected with flowers at Eidgaon Bazaar. There was a lot of excitement among the voters about this election for several days.
