Police arrested two youths in Naogaon for extortion

In Atrai of Naogaon, the locals arrested two fraudsters and handed them over to the police.
They were sent to Naogaon Jail on Tuesday morning, August 3.
The arrested are Monayem Hossain alias Sajib, 34, son of late Ashraful Ali of Ishwar Laxmipur village under Safapur union in Mahadevpur upazila of Naogaon district and Ratan Ali, 30, son of Aslam Mandal of Purba Paharpur village under Naogaon Sadar upazila.
Atrai police officer in charge (OC) said. Abul Kalam Azad said that on Monday afternoon, August 2, Monaim Hossain Sajib and Ratan sat on the side of the road at different places and demanded money from the youths who were playing games on mobile phones by intimidating them. He introduced himself and demanded five thousand rupees for keeping the shop open during the ongoing lockdown, threatening him with jail-fine. At one stage of the conversation, he was forced to pay a thousand rupees.
When Azad suspected the matter, he informed the Atrai police with the help of the locals. The police arrested the two swindlers from the spot and brought them to the police station.
Later, 1 Hero Hank motorcycle, 6 mobile phones, 1 tip knife, 1 police sticker, 1 police written wallet, 1 police written key ring and a fake ID card were seized from them.
He added that a case was registered against Monaim Hossain Sajib and Ratan at Atrai police station and they were sent to Naogaon jail on Tuesday morning.
