Bi-annual election of Manikchhari Press Club was held

The bi-annual election of the executive council of Manikchhari Press Club of Khagrachhari district was held on Friday afternoon, August 8 in a festive atmosphere.
Out of 11 posts, all have been elected unopposed in 8 posts including Md. Main Uddin. Incumbent General Secretary Abdul Mannan has been elected General Secretary by getting 9 votes for the laptop symbol through the ballot of 3 candidates for the post of General Secretary. HM Alamgir Hossain, the nearest rival of the other two candidates, got 4 votes for the pen symbol and Md. Shahidul Islam got 2 votes for the camera symbol. Out of 16 voters, 15 exercised their franchise and one was absent. Chief Election Commissioner SM Jahangir Alam announced the results after the polls were held at 3:15 pm on August 8. Assistant Commissioners Md. Monir Hossain and Md. Rabiul Hossain performed the duties.
Advocate Jasim Uddin Majumder, a senior journalist from Khagrachhari and vice chairman of the District Red Crescent Society, was present to observe the election. In a brief discussion after the announcement of the results, Advocate Jasim Uddin Majumder said that setting an example by holding elections in the process of selecting candidates through direct voting in a democratic manner set an example that is exemplary and memorable for the entire district.
President of Manikchhari Press Club Khagrachhari District Council Member Md. Main Uddin, Editor of Alokit Pahar Patrika Md. Saju, Editor of Pahar Alo Patrika Md. Mubarak Hossain and other dignitaries were present. Others who have been elected unopposed are Vice President Abre Marma, Organizing Secretary Chaithoai Aung Marma Mintu, Finance Secretary Moktadir Hossain, Publicity and Publication Secretary Md Akter Hossain, Office Library Secretary Kausar Hamid Apan and Sports Affairs Secretary Zakir Hossain.
