A 21-year-old man named Mubarak Ali committed suicide by hanging himself with a bamboo stick in his bedroom on Sunday afternoon (June 20) at Ranishankail in Thakurgaon.

According to police and local sources, Mubarak took a pledge to buy a smart mobile phone from his father. His family could not buy the phone due to lack of money. His father promised to buy the phone if he had money. Thinking it would be too late, Mubarak went to his house and slept without eating lunch. In the meantime, Mubarak, with the help of his family members, flew a plane and shot himself in the bedroom of his house.

In the afternoon, Mubarak's mother Muslima went to the house and saw the boy hanging with a bamboo stick. He later informed the police and inspected the spot.

Mubarak's death cast a shadow over the area.

Confirming the incident, police OC SM Zahid Iqbal said the youth committed suicide by hanging himself out of pride. His family has applied to the ADM for permission to bury the body as there was no complaint from the family. An unnatural death case has been registered in this regard.
