Campaign Gate and Banners of Independent MP Candidate Vandalized in Faridpur

Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Faridpur District Correspondent:

An allegation has surfaced regarding the vandalism of campaign gates and banners belonging to an independent prospective Member of Parliament (MP) candidate in the Faridpur-4 constituency.

The incidents reportedly occurred recently in various places in Sadarpur and Charbhadrasan, Faridpur, and subsequently spread across the social media platform Facebook.

Mufti Raihan Jamil, the independent MP candidate for the Faridpur-4 constituency, posted about the vandalism on his personal Facebook profile.

Commenting on the incident to Our Islam, Mufti Raihan Jamil said, "These are not setbacks, but rather signs of victory. The gate that was torn down, the banner that was ripped, will all tell a story of triumph one day, Insha'Allah. Darkness can never conceal the light."

He added, "I am participating in this election with a pledge to stand by the poor and helpless people. With the prayers and love of the people, I shall achieve victory, Insha'Allah. I have informed the police station about this kind of heinous incident and will take legal action if such acts occur in the future."

In this regard, a local resident named Abdullah said, "Mufti Raihan Jamil has been a topic of discussion for a long time due to his various public service activities in the Faridpur-4 constituency. Some unidentified miscreants, out of jealousy over his growing reputation in Faridpur and across the country for selling Hilsa fish at 10 Taka per kg, beef at 2 Taka per kg to the helpless poor, and other humanitarian work, vandalized his banners and gates under the cover of night. This is very unfortunate."

When contacted about the matter, Md. Roziullah Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charbhadrasan Police Station, told reporters, "Mufti Raihan Jamil informed me over the phone, but he has not yet filed a written complaint. Necessary action will be taken once a complaint is received. Besides, the Election Commission may also take action regarding the vandalism of gates, posters, or banners," he added.
