Teacher with Fake Certificate Resigns with Cooperation from Headmaster in Badalgachhi
Nuruzzaman Liton, Staff Reporter:
In Badalgachhi, Naogaon, a teacher named Fatema Begum who had been working using a forged certificate has had her teacher registration certificate proven to be fake. Following the discovery, the teacher reportedly resigned from her job. Allegations have surfaced that the school's Acting Headmaster, Partha Kumar, directly assisted her in resigning.
Sources indicate that on October 13, the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) confirmed in a verification report that Fatema Begum's 2006 certificate for the 2nd Teacher Registration Exam in Bengali, bearing roll number 21010117, was forged and fake. The report stated, "The submitted certificate does not match the preserved results, and it appears to be forged and fake."
Fatema Begum is the wife of Upazila Awami League leader Abu Khaleq Dulal. It is alleged that she used the fake certificate to secure the job in 2008 by leveraging political influence and also received a higher pay scale in 2020. It is estimated that she has embezzled over 30 lakh Taka from the government exchequer over a long period.
Following the NTRCA report, she submitted her resignation letter on October 18 through the school's Acting Headmaster, Partha Kumar. There are allegations that Headmaster Partha Kumar cooperated with the teacher, who held the fake certificate, by allegedly using a fraudulent medical certificate to smooth her exit from the job.
Earlier, based on a complaint from a local person, the District Education Officer sent her certificate for verification. The verification process was prolonged, but finally, the NTRCA provided the report after the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdul Awal.
When asked about the matter, teacher Fatema Begum refused to comment and disconnected the phone call. Acting Headmaster Partha Kumar also declined to speak over the phone.
The school's President, Oli, said, "I don't know if she has resigned. However, her certificate has been proven to be fake. Legal action will now be taken against her."
District Education Officer (Acting) Md. Shahadat Hossain stated, "We have not officially received any letter yet. Once the letter is received, action will be taken according to the instructions."
