Former MP Engineer Golam Mostofa Pledges to Make Joypurhat-2 a 'Model Constituency' Free of Corruption and Extortion

 Moshiur Rahman Khan, Joypurhat

A mass procession and leaflet distribution were held in Khetlal, Joypurhat, demanding the implementation of the 31-point framework for state reform announced by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The program was organized by the Upazila and Poura (Municipal) BNP on Wednesday (October 15) afternoon.

The event, presided over by former BNP Organizing Secretary Nuruzzaman Mridha, featured Engineer Golam Mostofa, a member of the party's National Executive Committee and former Member of Parliament for the Joypurhat-2 constituency, as the chief guest and key speaker.

During the mass procession, which transformed into a public gathering from Itakhola Bazar to Khetlal intersection, Engineer Golam Mostofa stated, "Joypurhat district is a predominantly agricultural area. I always want to see the farmer at the center of politics. If the party nominates me in the next election and the people elect me, the highest priority will be given to ensuring that farmers get a fair price for their produce."

He further said, "The 31-point program announced by the BNP under the leadership of Tarique Rahman is not just a framework for political change; it is a comprehensive state reform plan based on agriculture, industry, education, and employment. We want the decentralization of power so that farmers and common people in remote areas can receive the true benefits of development."

He added, "If the center nominates me, I will win by a massive margin and transform the Joypurhat-2 constituency into a corruption-free, extortion-free, and model constituency, Insha'Allah."

Golam Mostofa complained that while the price of agricultural products has increased during the current government's tenure, farmers are not getting a fair price for their crops. This, he noted, is trapping farming families in poverty. He pledged that if the BNP comes to power, supportive policies will be adopted for farmers, and subsidies for fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, and irrigation will be increased.

Several thousand leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations participated in the mass procession. The procession started from Itakhola Hat, marched through the main road of the municipal town, and concluded with a rally at the Khetlal intersection (Teen Matha).
