Senior journalist Sheikh Faiz Ahmed, the Faridpur District Correspondent for Channel S Television, has been elected as the Assistant Secretary General of the Central Executive Council of the National Journalists' Organization (Reg. No. - 95047), the country's oldest journalist association.
The information was confirmed by a representative of the organization on Saturday evening (September 20).
Sources state that the decision was officially communicated in a letter dated September 18, 2025, signed by the organization's president, Ashia Akter, and general secretary, Md. Alamgir Gani, on behalf of the Central Executive Council.
Regarding the new responsibility, senior journalist Sheikh Faiz Ahmed, the new Central Assistant Secretary General, told this correspondent from "Dainik Rupali Bangladesh," "First of all, I thank Almighty Allah, Alhamdullilah. I am grateful and extend my sincere thanks to the organization's president, Ashia Akter, and general secretary, Md. Alamgir Gani, for electing me."
He added, "I seek everyone's prayers and full support so that I can fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to me properly."
It is worth noting that the National Journalists' Organization was founded in 1982 by the late senior journalist Muhammad Altaf Hossain. For more than four decades, the organization has played a significant role in establishing the rights and fair demands of the journalistic community and in fostering goodwill and harmony among journalists. Its activities have now expanded to include expatriate journalists in various countries outside Bangladesh.
