Penalty for selling expired government vaccines in Pirganj

Moklesur Rahman, the owner of Pranipusthi Pharmacy in Pirganj, Thakurgaon, has been fined Tk 5,000 for selling expired government vaccines for duck duck plague. On Wednesday afternoon, Assistant Commissioner (Land) NM Isfaqul Kabir conducted the mobile court and imposed the fine. At that time, Upazila Animal Resources Officer Ranjit Kumar Singh, media workers and local people were present.
According to the office of the Assistant Commissioner (Lands), Mahfuz, a farmer in the Jabarhat area of the upazila, bought a duck duck plague vaccine from the animal nutrition pharmacy on Kazi Nazrul Islam Road in the city on Saturday. Goes home and finds - the vaccine is expired and official. The farmer reported the matter to the Upazila Animal Resources Department and the Upazila Executive Officer. Based on the complaint, the assistant commissioner came to the pharmacy and found out the truth of the incident. Later, the pharmacy owner was fined by the mobile court.
Moklesur Rahman, the owner of Pranipushti Pharmacy, said that one of his relatives works as a government official. His relative left the government vaccine in his shop and went to different places for vaccination. He was not in the shop on the day of the incident. An employee mistakenly sold government vaccines. He did not notice that it was expired.
Upazila animal resource officer Ranjit Kumar Singh said that he does not know how the government vaccine came to the pharmacy. Action must be taken if someone from his office is involved in this.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) NM Isfaqul Kabir said, on the instructions of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, he came to the spot and found the truth of the complaint and fined the pharmacy owner 5 thousand taka for violating Section 18 of the Medicines Act, 1940.
