When irregularities were observed during the distribution of VGF rice in Naogaon Badalgashi, the journalist was physically assaulted with verbal abuse while collecting information and recording video. At the same time, he has been threatened to be hanged in the Union Parishad.

The incident took place on Thursday (June 13) in the Mithapur Union Parishad area of ​​the upazila. At this time Mithapur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman and Union Awami League General Secretary Md. Feroz Hossain gave such reprehensible acts and threats.

Meanwhile, a video footage of the black market gathering of such incidents has spread on social media.

In that video, it was seen that some persons were freely smuggling rice out of the UP hall room in plastic sacks. Seeing such incidents, the journalist recorded the video as a professional duty. When the matter came to the attention of the chairman, he came out and offered rice to the journalist as a bribe. But when he refused to take the rice, the chairman got angry and abused him.

The leaders of Bangladesh Mafswal Journalist Society, Badalgachi Model Press Club, and other local journalist organizations have strongly condemned and protested this incident.

Daily Inkilab Badalgachi upazila representative Enamul Kabir said that he went to the Mithapur Union Council to gather news after receiving a complaint of irregularities in the distribution of VGF rice on the occasion of Eid. Also get the facts of the irregularity initially. At this time, he recorded a video to prove the irregularities. Chairman of the Union Council. Firoz Hossain got excited after trying to cover it up in various ways but to no avail and came forward in an unspeakable language and abusive manner. And threatened to arrest any journalist and hang him in the assembly if he reported the rice theft.

Journalist Enamul Kabir Enam said that they are preparing to file a case at Badalgachi police station.
