Distribution of goats among registered fishermen in Bhanga

With the aim of creating alternative employment among the poor registered fishermen of Bhangay Upazila of Faridpur, a program of distribution of goats, goat pens and goat food was held under the "Indigenous Species of Fish and Snails Conservation and Development Project" in the financial year 2023-24.

The distribution program was held in front of the Fisheries Office on Thursday (October 12) afternoon.

Under the chairmanship of Upazila Fisheries Officer Debla Chakraborty, Upazila Executive Officer Azim Uddin was present as the chief guest.

According to the sources, goats, goat gherkins and goat food have been distributed among the poor registered fishermen of the upazila with the aim of creating alternative employment.

Attended the distribution ceremony, Bhanga Upazila Executive Officer Azim Uddin, Upazila Fisheries Officer Debala Chakraborty, Agriculture Officer Jeevanshu Das, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Aminul Islam, Fisheries Office Assistant cum Computer Operator. Rubel Khan, field support worker Ishtiaq Ahmed Antar, Badal Khan, Sushmita Dhar, Jannati Sukhi, registered fish farmers of different areas etc.

In this regard, Upazila Fisheries Officer Debela Chakraborty said that the fisheries office is working to implement the support program of alternative income-increasing materials among registered fishermen under the "Indigenous Fish and Snail Conservation and Development Project" under the Directorate of Fisheries in the financial year 2023-24.

In order to implement this program, 40 goats, 20 goats' meal, 400 kg of goat food have been distributed among 20 poor registered fishermen from among the registered fishermen from different villages under Bhanga Upazila.

In the distribution ceremony, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azim Uddin said, "Those who make a living by fishing throughout the year, as if they do not catch fish during the fishing ban period, they have received goat and goat dung, as well as goat food as an alternative employment, as if they have changed their fate. can be self-sufficient."

He also said, "I would urge those who got the goats to think of them as their property, to use them as they would have if they were their property, to turn the wheel of their own destiny."
