A discussion meeting was held in Maldives demanding the provision of expatriate voting through embassies.

Bangladesh Diaspora Rights Council, Maldives branch organized a discussion and exchange meeting on "Discussion and Exchange of Opinions on Expatriate Voting and System of Voting of Expatriates through Bangladeshi Embassy in National Parliament Elections".
This event was held in the hall room of a local restaurant in the North-Habar of Male, the capital of Maldives. The discussion and exchange meeting was moderated by Md. Al Amin, convenor of Madina Jamaat Maldives branch and expatriate journalist, the meeting was presided over by Mr. Alamgir Sikdar, the honorable president of Maldives branch of Bangladesh Expatriate Rights Council, Maldives branch.
All the leaders and activists present in the said discussion and exchange meeting made a strong demand to Bangladesh Government and Bangladesh Election Commission to start the process of making Bangladeshi expatriates voter in Maldives as soon as possible and to make arrangements for expatriate voting through Bangladeshi Embassy in the upcoming national parliament elections.
The speakers strongly protested and condemned the theft of valuables of 4 Singapore expatriates at Bangladesh Airport last week and the brutal killing of 3 family members of Saudi expatriates in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
At the same time, he strongly demanded the government to implement the logical 10-point demands of the Bangladesh Expatriate Rights Council as soon as possible.
Honorable General Secretary of the Central Committee of the People's Rights Council Mr. Md. Rashed Khan was online as the chief guest in the discussion meeting.
Mr. Md. Kabir Hossain, the Honorable President of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Expatriate Rights Parishad was connected online as the main speaker. Mr. Mohammad Dulal Al Maizvandari, the Honorable Organizing Secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Expatriate Rights Parishad was present as a special speaker.
Bangladesh Pravasi Odhikar Parishad Central Committee Human Trafficking Prevention Secretary Mr. Zia Khan and Maldives Branch General Secretary Mr. Md Sarif were present as special guests.
Joint General Secretary Mr. Mamun Abdur Rauf, Finance Secretary Mr. Abdul Awal, Publicity and Publication Secretary Mr. Ifti, Honorable Members Mr. Anwar, Mr. Omar Farooq, Mr. Md. Saddam Hossain, Kazi Touhidul Islam, Md. Zane Alam, were also present in the meeting. Md. Abul Hossain, Md. Babul Hossain, many other invited guests and expatriate journalists were present.
Discussion and exchange of views At the beginning of the meeting, recitation from the Proba Quran and at the end of the meeting, a special prayer and prayer for the oppressed and oppressed Palestinians was led by Maulana Md Tajul Islam, former president of Madinah Jamaat Maldives branch.
