RAB has arrested the accused in the murder case who was on the run for 16 years in Joypurhat

RAB has arrested Zafar Jafu alias Yarb (35), who has been on the run for 16 years, and has been sentenced to death in a murder case, from Puranpail area of Joypurhat.

A special operation was conducted under the leadership of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Rafiqul Islam

He was arrested on Friday night.

The arrested accused Zafar Jafu is the son of deceased Mohibar Rahman of Paschim Parulia village of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila.

RAB said in the press release, 17 of 2007

On December night, a group of robbers entered the house of Mujibur Rahman, a resident of West Parulia village, stabbed him and fled with about 50,000 rupees in the house. Later, when the neighbors took him to Joypurhat Modern District Hospital in a critical condition, the doctor declared him dead. Two days after the incident, Abdur Razzak, son of the deceased, filed a case at Joypurhat police station.

Judge Abbas Uddin of the Additional Sessions Judge 2nd Court of Joypurhat announced the verdict in this case on June 19.

RAB arrested Zafar Jafu, keeping the intelligence operation going on to arrest the fugitive accused after the verdict was announced.
