Janaza prayers and burial of Hazrat Maulana Zahurul Haq (da:ba:), Founder Principal of Salthar Purura Al Jamiatul Arabia Nizamul Uloom Madrasa, Faridpur have been completed.
On Thursday (May 11) at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Janaza was held at the Purura Madrasa ground of the upazila founded by him and he was buried at the side of the Madrasa Mosque.
About half a million devout Muslims came to bid him farewell.
The funeral was attended by Major (retd) Atma Halim, member of the sub-committee on labor and manpower of Bangladesh Awami League, member of Faridpur district Awami League and president of Bangabandhu Sena Parishad Central Committee, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jewel, former Member of Parliament of Faridpur-2 Constituency,
Saltha Upazila Parishad Chairman Wadud Matubbar, Upazila Awami League President Delwar Hossain Miah, former Chairman Ohiduzzaman Molla, Muhtamim of traditional Bahirdia Madrasa, heads of various educational institutions, teachers and students of the Madrasa, his long-time colleagues and devotees etc.
He was 107 years old at the time of his death. At the time of his death, he left behind numerous benefactors, including his wife, 3 sons, 5 daughters. He was the teacher of thousands of scholars.
Major (retd) Atma Halim (Dulu), member of the sub-committee on labor and manpower of Bangladesh Awami League and president of Bangabandhu Sena Parishad central committee, advisory member of Faridpur district Awami League, commemorated this veteran scholar. He was overcome with emotion while reminiscing.
Brief introduction to his illustrious life - Alhaj Hazrat Maulana Zahurul Haque (RA) was born in 1916 in Bhawal Yuniz Purura village of then Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur district in a noble Muslim family. He started his education in Bahirdia Madrasa from his childhood, from there he studied in Jamaat till Hastam. After that he went to Gauhardanga Madrasa and completed the highest Hadith in Ladawara and first started teaching in Bahirdia Madrasa. He taught there with reputation. Later he established Purura Madrasa in his native village in 1971. He has served as principal in this institution since its inception.
Bhawal was the first former successful chairman of the Union Parishad after independence. He was a white minded man with many virtues.
Meanwhile, "Bangladesh Darul Arkam Teacher Welfare Association" expressed condolences on his death and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
It should be noted that Maulana Md., the elder son of the deceased confirmed the truth of the information. Nizam Uddin told the correspondent, due to old age, my father fell ill and was admitted to Faridpur Diabetes Hospital. After doing various tests, the doctor said that both the kidneys are damaged and the condition is critical. Stayed there for about two weeks. Later, if the condition worsened, it was expected to be taken to the madrasa last Wednesday afternoon. On the same day, he passed away at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. On Thursday at 3 pm, a funeral prayer was held at the Purura Madrasa ground. And he was placed next to the Madrasah Mosque.
