Human chain in protest of Alamgir's killing in Faridpur

Human chain and protest marches were held in Bhanga of Faridpur to protest the killing of farmer Alamgir Matubbar and to demand arrest and exemplary punishment of the accused.

On Friday (May 19) morning, the human chain was held along the Khardia-Pirerchar road of Algi Union of the upazila. The people of Chhota Khardia village and the family of deceased Alamgir participated in it.

Speaking at the human bond, Md. Kawshar Matubbar, Ayub Matubbar, Sohail Baig, Sadek Matubbar, Ibrahim Mollah, Abdul Quddus Matubbar etc.

In their speech, the speakers strongly demanded the administration to arrest the killers of farmer Alamgir quickly and bring them under the law to ensure exemplary punishment.

Sadia Akhtar (20), Rahima Begum (22), Reba Begum (25), the three daughters of Alamgir, a farmer killed in human chain, stood in front of the banner and started crying demanding justice for the killers of their father, a heartbreaking atmosphere was created there. The sky became heavy with the cries of the deceased's wife, Bilkish. The deceased is the son of deceased Haji Lal Mia Matubbar of Chhota Khardia village of Algi Union of Algi Union of Alamgir Bhanga Upazila.

It is to be noted that according to local sources, due to the land dispute, last afternoon (Saturday, May 13), when Shah Alam Matubbar was going to cut rice in his land, the opponent's people blocked him. In the illegal crowd, the opponents were beaten and injured with sticks, iron rods, ramadas, hammers, etc. Alamgir was later rescued by locals and died (Sunday, May 14) while undergoing treatment at the broken health complex. Bilkish Begum, the wife of the deceased, filed a written complaint at Bhanga police station, mentioning the names of 57 people, including Kauchar Matubbar, Charwar Matubbar, Chanu Matubbar, Nurul Islam Molla, Bablu Matubbar and fifteen others unknown. Although one person was arrested in this incident, as the main accused were not arrested, there is pent-up anger among the locals and the families of the victims.
