7 detained in Faridpur in connection with the cutting of a young man's vein; Police press conference

Bhanga Thana police have arrested 7 people in the case of brutally cutting the leg vein of Imran Talukdar and thrashing 3 others including him due to previous enmity in Ishwardi Tarail village of Azimnagar union of Bhanga upazila of Faridpur.

This information was informed through a press briefing at Bhanga police station premises on Saturday (May 6) at noon. Later, the arrested accused have been sent to court. At that time Additional Superintendent of Police (broken circle) Md. Helaluddin Bhuiyan, Bhanga police station officer-in-charge (OC). Journalists from various electronic and print media including Ziarul Islam were present.

It is known through the press briefing that they were arrested last night in various areas of Azim Nagar Union of the upazila. At that time, Moklesur Rahman Sumon, the main accused in the case, sensed the presence of the police and left behind his white private car (Dhaka Metro G-25-8501) and escaped from the railing of Padma Setu and went to Dhaka. At that time, the police recovered the car and the two mobile phones in the car and took them to the police station. Later, 2 ramadas, 55 ink/arrows and 1 bow were recovered by raiding Moklechur Rahman's petrol pump.


The arrested are:- Labu Matubbar (35) of Salilda village of the upazila, Farooq Hawladar (35) of Tarail Ishwardi village, Aktar Matubbar (30), Iqbal Shikdar (30), Ohid Matubbar (30), Dhaka Lalbagh area Md. Hossain Khan and Farhad Hossain (38) of Charbachamra village of Shibchar police station of Madaripur. All the accused are named accused in the statement of the incident.


It is to be noted that in the area adjacent to Tarail Petrol Pump of Azimnagar Union of Upazila last (05 May 2023) on Friday morning, the agitated crowd vandalized the petrol pump after beating Moklechur Rahman Sumon of Ishwardi village and several people of Farooq Talukder group of the same village over land acquisition and dominance dispute. On that day, Moklechur Rahman Sumon's men took three people, including Imran Talukder (35), Shaon Bepari (22) and Titas, of the Farooq Talukder group, at gunpoint while they were having breakfast at a sweet shop in Sajal, Pulia Bazar. Later, they were taken to Suman's petrol pump area and hacked with sharp weapons, inflicting severe injuries and cutting the leg veins of Imran Talukdar. In this incident, Imran Talukder's elder brother Iqbal Talukder filed a complaint against 29 people last night at Banga police station. In this incident, they were arrested in various places of the area at night. The arrested accused have been sent to court.
