2 residences burnt to ashes; Damage 5 lakh rupees

In Baliachra village of Ward No. 8 of Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur, the two living houses of two sons of Muslim Sheikh were burnt to ashes due to fire.

The incident took place on Wednesday (April 12) at approximately 5:00 am at the house of Muslim Sheikh in Baliachra village of the upazila. It caused a loss of around five lakh rupees.

According to local sources, after the fire, the goods of four or five other houses could be removed, but the two sons of Muslim Sheikh Belayt and Samrat could not remove any goods from the house. Two houses and goods were burnt to ashes.

Later, the local people and fire service came and brought the fire under control. It is said that the fire caused a loss of around five lakh rupees.

Many people were injured while fighting the fire. Md. among them. Sujan said, I got hit on my head, got burnt, I just came home after receiving treatment from the hospital. Others sought treatment elsewhere.

According to local sources, the fire started from a kitchen due to carelessness while preparing iftari. Instantly, it spread to the surrounding houses and various houses were burnt to ashes due to the flames. Apart from this, four more houses were partially damaged.

The station officer of Bhanga Fire Service said that a team of them went to the spot and brought the fire under control after receiving the information through Bhanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer and journalists. They claimed that the fire started due to the carelessness of the women while preparing iftari.

Bhanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer said in this regard, I informed the station master of the fire service as soon as I heard the news of the fire. He also said, I will do whatever kind of financial support is needed from the government to the affected families/helpless people, God willing.
