Necrophilia: A terrible venereal disease

CID prepares the DNA test and profile of the evidence in cases of rape and murder in Bangladesh where post-mortem is ordered. This DNA test of CID first started in 2012 with the establishment of DNA testing lab. Accordingly, the forensic department of the CID has been collecting evidence from various cases. In 2019, some HVS (high vaginal swabs) were sent to the DNA lab for testing. But from March of that year to August 2020, the CID was surprised to find the presence of a man's sperm in the corpses of women brought to the mortuary of Sherebangla Medical College. A new door of investigation was opened. For the first time in Bangladesh discussion started about necrophilia.
The word Necrophilia comes from the Greek word. Nekros means dead (nekros; dead) and (philia; love) philia means love or addiction. Necrophilia is a mental sexual disorder. People suffering from this disorder are called necrophile [Necrophile] or Necrophiliac [Necrophiliac]; Necrophiles have sexual relations with corpses. That is, those who feel physical attachment to dead bodies are suffering from this rare disease.
Basically those who live next to the corpse are more affected by this disease. But beyond this, serial killers or rapists can also be affected by this disease.
A research report was published in the US National Library of Medicine in 1989 reviewing data on 122 necrophilic individuals.
Necrophiles engage in sexual intercourse with corpses primarily out of desire to have a sexual partner, says the study.
Often they choose occupations where they have the opportunity to be around dead bodies.
However, some of the 122 people reviewed in the research survey reported having sex with the corpse after the killing, despite having the opportunity to be around the corpse.
Let's mention some of the terrible people who have become notorious in history, who were essentially necrophiliacs.
When necrophilia is discussed, the first thing that comes up is Dr. Carl Van Castle. In 1930, while he was in the medical profession in Florida, he treated a beautiful TB patient named Maria Elena Uz. Dr. fell deeply in love with that girl while treating. Castle. Dr. Castle tries his best to save the girl, but fails. After Maria's death, she was buried in full splendor. But Dr. Castle could not forget her. Every day he visited the grave and met Ellen. One time he lifted the whole body and brought it to his house. Dak.castle uses various chemicals and perfumes to avoid decay and bad smell.
Another man, Victor Ardison, worked as a gravedigger in a small town in France. He had sex with hundreds of corpses. Police found the body of a three-year-old girl in his room, with whom he had sex. He even kept a girl's skull close by and called it "my wife". According to him, he even tried to talk to the dead body. But when the corpses did not respond to his words, he became sad and depressed. He was sent to a mental hospital for the rest of his life.
Many others, including Ted Bundy, were serial killers and necrophiliacs.
This problem can be overcome by adequate counseling and awareness about the punishment of this crime to avoid this terrible disease and crime. For this, family members, law enforcement agencies or conscious people of the society should come forward to create awareness in the society. Everyone should ensure a holy funeral.
