Narayan statue worth 22 crores of hard stone recovered in Naogaon

Hard stone Narayana idol was recovered during the excavation of pond at Dhamirhat in Naogaon district. Police said that the value of the statue is around 22 crore rupees.

Yesterday, January 21, Saturday, the idol was recovered from Gundeshahar village of Toy Union of Dhamirhat Upazila. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhamirhat police station. Mozammel Haque Qazi confirmed this.

He said Motaleb Hossain, son of Mozammel Haque of Gundeshahar village of Toy Union of the upazila, found the statue while digging a pond in his land. Dhamirhat Police Station immediately informed the police. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the idol and took it into police custody.

The OC also said that the Narayan Tagore statue weighing 32 kg is worth around Tk 22 crore. It is believed that this ancient idol was the deity of the Hindu community. As per the directions of the court, the ancient statue will be handed over to the archeology department through the court.
