Zahidur Rahman, Member of National Parliament of Thakurgao-3 Constituency and President of Upazila BNP, read the written statement. He claimed that it was decided to hold it peacefully in Pirganj as part of the pre-announced central program of BNP to protest against the rise in prices of fuel, fertilizers and daily necessities. The matter was reported in writing to the Superintendent of Police on August 21. The administration's sudden decision to issue Section 144 without knowing anything has spread anger among the party leaders and workers and has created a negative and negative perception of the general public towards the administration. They strongly condemned and protested it. At that time, General Secretary of Upazila BNP Ziaul Islam Zia, President of Municipal BNP Ruhul Amin, General Secretary Rezaul Karim Raja and other leaders and workers of BNP and its organs and affiliated organizations were present.
On the other hand, the Upazila Awami League held a counter press conference at the party office in the afternoon to protest against BNP's creation of anarchy and the suffering of peaceful Pirganj residents. It is claimed that BNP is creating anarchy across the country. In the name of party program, peace-loving Pirganj residents have suffered greatly. For this, all the anarchic programs of BNP will be dealt with politically on the streets. Upazila Awami League President and former MP Imdadul Haque, Upazila Awami League General Secretary Rezwanul Haque Biplab and other party leaders were present. Regarding the issuance of Section 144, Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Shahriar Nazir said that if the programs of both parties continue, the municipality will go to different intersections. There were possibilities of vandalism of vehicles, damage to private and public property and disruption of law and order, along with disruption of traffic. Section 144 was promulgated in the interests of law and order and public safety, not at the instigation of anyone.
