A child died after drowning in Naogaon

A 10-month-old child named Amena Khatun has died after falling into the water of a pond in Raninagar of Naogaon district.

The incident took place at Malshan village of the upazila on Sunday, August 28, around 2 pm. The child is said to be the daughter of Muktar Hossain of Malshan village.

According to family sources of the deceased child, on Sunday afternoon, the child's cousin was playing with Mohana in the yard in front of their house. At one stage of the play, Mohana leaves the child and goes inside the house. Meanwhile, the child crawled and fell into the pond next to the house. After some time, the family members found the child floating in the water and quickly rescued him. But by then the child died.

Raninagar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the death of the child after falling into the water of the pond. He said that the child's family has prepared for family burial.
