Brutal attack on madrasa teacher in Sylhet; Strong condemnation of the teachers' association

Miscreants tried to kill a madrasah teacher in Manikganj market of Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet.

The incident took place at Manikganj market of the upazila at approximately 11 am on Saturday (August 20).

According to sources, Rana Mia of Manikona village fenced with tin in front of the shop owned by teacher Maulana Hossain Ahmed last Thursday night. The next day, on Friday, the matter was reported to the Manikganj Bazaar Merchants' Association and the local chairman. Rana Mia stopped the shutters of the shop on Saturday morning. At that time, Rana attacked Maulana Hossain with native weapons. Hossain was fatally injured. At that time, when his father came forward, he was also approached by the miscreants.

At that time, Hossain fell on the ground in a bloody state. Locals rescued him and quickly brought him to Fenchuganj Upazila Health Complex. Doctor on duty for advanced treatment as the condition of the patient is critical

Sylhet sent to Osmani Medical. Currently, he is under treatment in the 7th ward of the 4th floor of Osmani Medical.

Several locals said that Rana Mia forcibly occupied other people's place in Manikona area. He is known by one name as 'Bhoomi Kheko'.

Teacher Maulana Hossain Ahmad said, the shop in Manikganj market is owned by my father. We have rented a shop there. In the dark of last Thursday night, Rana Mia with his gang forcibly put up a tin fence in front of my shop. On Friday, I informed the Chairman of Bazar Banik Samiti and North Fenchuganj Union Parishad. On Saturday, when I opened the shutters of the shop, Rana Mia came to beat me with a stick in hand. At one point he slashed me and left me bleeding. The locals rescued me and brought me to the hospital. Rana Mia has hacked me to death. Then my sister filed a case in Fenjuganj police station as the plaintiff.

Sources further informed that members of Fenchuganj police station went to Manikona village of the upazila to arrest the accused late on Saturday night. The policemen arrested the two accused from the house of Manikona village. The other accused escaped after being informed by the police.

Meanwhile, "Bangladesh Darul Arkam Teacher Welfare Association (Badashiks)" Central Committee has strongly condemned and protested the President Mufti Zainul Abedin regarding the brutal attack on Darul Arkam Madrasa teacher. Requested the concerned district committee to provide all cooperation including finding the seriously injured teacher.

Convener Hafez Maulana on behalf of "Badashik's Muktijoddha Issan Sangsad" protested even more strongly against the shameful incident. Sakhawat Hussain (MSS).

He demanded exemplary punishment by bringing the culprits to book quickly.

According to Fenchuganj police station, two accused have been arrested in the incident. The operation is continuing to arrest the remaining accused in the case.
