The Bangladesh Embassy observed Maldives National Economic and Diplomacy Week

 The First Economic Diplomacy Week - 2022 was celebrated by the Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives with due dignity and enthusiasm on Monday, June 26, at 8 pm local time in Male, the capital of the Maldives. Mr. Mohamed Iyad Hamid, Hon'ble Minister of State for Economic Development, Maldives was the Chief Guest at the event. State Ministers, Members of Parliament, high-ranking businessmen and many eminent personalities of various ministries of Maldives and Hon'ble High Commissioner Real Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad, and all officials and employees of Bangladesh High Commission including Head of Embassy Sohail Parvez and Presidents of Maldives Branch Awami League, BL Money Transporter (Maldives) officials, expatriate teachers, doctors, businessmen, politicians, professional civil society leaders were present on the occasion.

The program begins with the recitation and translation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Sohail Parvez, First Secretary of the High Commission and Head of the Embassy then gave a presentation on the benefits of investment and trade in Bangladesh. Later, a special video made with various international quality products of Bangladesh was shown. Mr. Mohamed Iyad Hamid, Hon'ble Minister of State for Economic Development, Maldives, who was the Chief Guest at the event, lauded the Economic Diplomacy Week and hoped that it would play an important role in enhancing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Maldives.


After that Hon'ble High Commissioner SM Abul Kalam Azad thanked all present. He mentioned the strong leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his worthy daughter Jannetri Sheikh Hasina in the unprecedented development and progress of Bangladesh and now Bangladesh is recognized as a role model of development in the world. As Maldives is an import dependent country, he urged all traders to import better quality goods from Bangladesh to Maldives and invest in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi food and fruits imported from Bangladesh are served at the dinner. Besides, medicines, agro food, frozen products etc. imported from Bangladesh are displayed.

Everyone present praised the event. And the Hon'ble High Commissioner exchanged greetings with all the guests who arrived at the ceremony, at the end of which the conclusion of the ceremony was announced through a royal dinner and photo session.
