Eid celebrated in festive atmosphere in Italy: Eid demands two days of public holiday

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in a festive atmosphere in European countries including Italy on Monday. Eid congregations were held in at least 50 open spaces in various provinces of the country, including the capital Rome. The main congregation in Rome is held at the National Eidgah Grounds in Piazza Vittorio. Top leaders of various political and social organizations including Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Md. Shamim Ahsan performed Eid prayers here.
Ambassador Md. Shamim Ahsan greeted the expatriate Bangladeshis in Italy and expressed satisfaction over their ability to offer prayers in the open field.
Convener of National Eid Celebration Committee Alhaj Abdur Razzak, Joint Convener Haji Noor Alam, Abdur Rauf Fakir, Bangladesh Samity Italy First Elected President K. President Aftab Bepari, President of Italian Awami League Muktijoddha Mahtab Hossain, General Secretary Md. Alamgir Hossain, one of the leaders, founder and chairman of Swadesh Videsh Patrika and President of National Sports Organization Italy Haji Md. Jasim Uddin, General Secretary of Italian BNP Dhali Nasir Uddin and others.
The leaders demanded a public holiday on Eid and said that a large number of expatriates in Italy follow Islam. Therefore, the government should declare a holiday for Muslims on at least two Eids. They called on the political and social organizations to form a movement with this demand.
In addition to the National Eidgah, Eid congregations have been held in open spaces at Largo Prentina, Tarpinattara Park, Montevarde, Montaniwala, Tiburtina, etc. in the capital Rome. However, due to Eid on working days, many people have rushed to work after performing Eid prayers.
Although the expatriates can enjoy the joy of Eid in their life, the expatriates remember the words of their relatives in the country.
