Thakurgaon: A woman was severely injured in a hailstorm
Thakurgaon District Representative:
Nekmarad, Pirganj and Baliadangi of Ranishankail in Thakurgaon have received rain and hail with strong winds. A woman named Moyna Akhter (45) was hit in the head while crossing the road in Nekmard and was seriously injured.
He is being treated at the Upazila Health Complex. The hailstorm from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm on Sunday caused extensive damage to mango, litchi, maize, chilli and other crops. Faridul Islam, a pepper farmer from Lahiri area of Baliadangi upazila, said he was supposed to pick pepper a few days later. But in the hailstorm, two bighas of pepper fell on him.
He bears the lion's share of the world's expenses by selling pepper every year. Gardener Khademul Islam said that the mango pods and leaves of three hundred and fifty trees have fallen. I just sat on the road. Earlier, Thakurgaon Sadar was damaged in hailstorm. Whether he was able to handle the stress or not, the hailstorm again made everything universal for me.
I don't want to dream any more with the mango pods in the tree. Touhidul Islam, a Lehimbar maize farmer in Ranishankail, said the maize field had been destroyed. The corn husks are broken by the blows of the stones. The trees are broken and lying down. I have lost about three lakh rupees on 6 bighas of land. Abu Hossain, agriculture officer of the district, said that the farmers have suffered a lot in this hailstorm. Other crops, especially pepper, maize, mango and litchi pods, may also be affected. However, we are working in the field to find out what crops have been damaged in how many hectares of land. I will be able to give an accurate calculation later.
