Hafez Dr. Maulana Md. Sakhawat Hossain

Surah Al-Kahf is the 17th Surah of the Holy Quran. This is a very virtuous Surah which was revealed in Makkah. Its verse number is 110.

In the hadith, the time before sunset on Friday / Friday is said to be the most important time. So if we recite the Surah after the Asr prayer and pray, Allah will give us more thawab InshaAllah.

Narrated from Hazrat Anas (R), this complete Surah has been revealed at once and with it 80,000 angels have come into the world.

Some of the details of this Surah are given below:

Naming: In this Surah, “Ashab-e-Kahaf” means those young believers who hid themselves in a cave in a mountain to preserve their religion. This Surah has been named "Surah Kahf" because of their narration.

There are 3 incidents in this Surah -

1. The story of those young men who sacrificed their lives to defend their faith and took refuge in a cave in a mountain and after sleeping there for 309 years, Allah woke them up again.

2. The incident between Hazrat Musa and Khizr Alaihis Salam.

3. The story of King Zulkarnain who was the king of the whole world and traveled all over the world.

For these events, the Surah is as characteristic as it is very virtuous. There is a description of the virtues mentioned in this regard. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) emphasized on the virtue of reciting Surah al-Kahf and memorizing it.

On the authority of Abi Al-Darda'i, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

Muslim (1H), Sahih Muslim (2)

Narrated Abu Darda: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be safe from the fitnah of the Dajjal. Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 609.

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Sahal Ibn Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that a person who recites the first and last verses of Surah Al-Kahf becomes a light from head to toe. And for the one who recites the complete Surah, light becomes from the earth to the sky. (Musnad Ahmad)

It has been narrated in another hadith-

[On the authority of Abu Saeed:] From the recitation of Surah Al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah

Al-Suyuti (2 AH), Al-Jami 'Al-Saghir 2

Narrated Abu Sa'eed Khudri: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah, there will be light between the two Jumu'ahs.”

In another hadith-

, Sahih Al-Bukhari

Narrated Bara'a: He said: A man was reciting Surah Al-Kahf. His horse was tied to his side with two ropes. Then a piece of cloud came and cast a shadow over him. The clouds gradually began to descend. And his horse started jumping in fear. When the man told the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about the incident in the morning, he said, "It was Asasakina (peace), which was revealed because of the recitation of the Qur'aan." Bukhari, Hadith No. 5011

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The hadeeth came from Ibn Hibban.

[On the authority of Abi Al-Darda ':] Whoever recites ten verses from Surah Al-Kahf from the infallible fitnah of Dajjal Sahih Ibn Habban

Whoever recites the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will also be freed from the temptation of Dajjal.

In another narration three verses are also mentioned.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) narrated from Hazrat Ali (ra) that whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will be free from all kinds of fitna for eight days. According to another tradition, all his sins will be forgiven from one Friday to the next.

However, the purpose of minor sins is to forgive the mentioned sins. Because the sins of the poets will not be forgiven without repentance.

Many ask when it is better to read?

Surah Al-Kahf can be recited at any time on Friday.

May Allah grant us all the grace to recite Surah Al-Kahf regularly, Amen.
