In Naogaon, a man committed suicide by stabbing himself in the neck.

Yaqub Ali, 55, was shot dead by a licensed gunman on the roof of his house in Patnitala of Naogaon district.

The deceased was identified as Yakub Ali, 55, son of late Abdul Hamid of Cheradanga village under Akbarpur union of the upazila.

Patnitala police have confirmed that he committed suicide by sticking a gun to his neck on the roof of his house in Cheradanga village of Akbarpur union of the upazila at 11:30 am on Wednesday.

According to local and police sources, shots were fired from Yakub's house at around 11:30 am. Locals rushed to the roof of his house and saw Yakub lying on the roof covered in blood. They informed the police when they saw his licensed single-barreled gun lying on the side. Upon receiving the news, the police recovered his body. Local villagers said that a family quarrel had been going on for several days over their father's property.

 

Patnitala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsul Alam Shah confirmed the incident. Police believe that Yakub committed suicide by sticking his own gun in his throat after the initial investigation. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
