Human chain demanding the establishment of a university in the historic Paharpur of Naogaon.

An hour-long human chain has been held at Paharpur, a historical Buddhist monastery in Badalgachhi, Naogaon district, demanding the establishment of a university. The human chain program was held on March 29 (Tuesday) at 10 am at Paharpur Bazar Tinmatha corner under the banner of Paharpur University Implementation Council and Paharpur University Implementation Student Council.

 

Former Member of Parliament for Naogaon-3 Dr. Akram Hossain Chowdhury, Badalgachhi Upazila Vice Chairman Md. Imamul Al Hasan Titu, General Secretary of Badalgachhi Upazila Awami League and Paharpur UP Chairman Mizanur Rahman Kishore, Headmaster of Paharpur Adivasi High School Md. Mamunur Rashid spoke on the occasion. General Secretary of Paharpur Union Awami League Md. Zahurul Islam, President of Paharpur Union Awami League Md. Aminur Rahman and others.

Speaking on the demand of the university, the speakers said that Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to set up a university in Naogaon district next to the historical Paharpur Buddhist monastery surrounded by historical heritage.

Teachers and students of different schools and colleges of the upazila, members of various social organizations, individuals of civil society and people of all walks of life were present in the human chain program.
