Two menless villages in Patnitala of Naogaon in the case of UP election violence

Staff reporter::

Ghoshnagar and adjoining Kamalabari villages have become manless since the case was filed by the police in the incident of violence in Ghoshnagar of Patnitala upazila of Naogaon district in the fifth phase of UP elections in the country.

Elections were held in 23 union parishads of Patnitala upazila in the fifth phase on Wednesday, January 5. On the same evening, the police wanted to take the ballot box to the upazila without announcing the results of the two centers in Ghoshnagar village of Ghoshnagar union.

Supporters of independent chairman candidate Farzana Parveen clashed with police at the time. Protesters set fire to two police vehicles and voting equipment. On January 8, police filed a case against 2,500 people, including Farzana Parveen, naming 113 people and not mentioning their names. Later, seven people including Farzana and her husband Matiur Rahman were arrested.

Visiting Ghoshnagar and Kamalabari villages on Saturday and today, Sunday, it was seen that two villages are empty of men to avoid arrest and harassment. Businesses closed. There are farms. As a result, the women living there are suffering from insecurity.

The villagers said that the condition of the village is not good now. There are only girls in the village. All the men are leaving their families, leaving their work and running away. We are in panic. It is scary when night falls.

Naogaon Additional Superintendent of Police Gaziur Rahman said, "We are only taking action against those who are involved in arson." But no one is being harassed.
